The market lost ground this week, sentiment slid into fear, and most large caps closed lower. Beneath that broad weakness, though, a handful of assets still pulled off outsized moves in both directions — proof that even a rough Bitcoin week doesn't mean everything moves in lockstep.
What happened
-
Total crypto market capitalization fell 2.41% to roughly $2.70 trillion, down from about $2.77 trillion the week before.
-
Sentiment deteriorated fast. The Fear & Greed Index — a gauge that tracks whether traders are leaning cautious or confident — dropped from 50 (Neutral) to 34 (Fear). Its weekly average landed at 42, with a clearly falling trend.
-
Large caps were broadly weaker. Bitcoin declined 3.39% to $77,895, while Ethereum lost 3.79% to $2,264.08. BNB and XRP each fell about 4.3%, and Solana was the weakest major asset on the board, dropping 7.18% to $94.49.
-
HYPE was the standout exception. Hyperliquid gained 13.60% to $87.59, easily outperforming the rest of the top-ranked group. Zcash also held positive, rising 1.19%, while Monero and Dogecoin posted only minor declines.
-
Smaller assets delivered the week's real extremes. BEAM surged 74.16%, followed by KNTQ at 49.68%. HASH and NIGHT climbed 14.46% and 13.24%, respectively. On the flip side, AKE collapsed 70.16%, Q dropped 49.56%, and BTW fell 34.03%. USELESS and CARDS each lost roughly 24%.
What to watch next week
-
Whether fear stabilizes. A move below 34 would confirm risk appetite is still weakening; a stabilization would suggest this week's sentiment slide has paused for now.
-
Large-cap direction. BTC, ETH, and SOL all closed lower. Their next weekly moves will show whether the broader 2.41% market contraction continues or starts to level out.
-
Follow-through in the outliers. BEAM and KNTQ head into the new week riding sharp gains, while AKE, Q, and BTW face the opposite setup after steep losses. Volatility remains the central risk to track across this crypto weekly recap cycle.
